hCG Therapy for Men in Scarsdale, NY
Protocol Health prescribes hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) for men at our Scarsdale, NY clinic, after labs and a consultation. hCG stimulates the testes directly, so it can raise testosterone while supporting sperm production, alone or alongside testosterone.
Consultation $249, or $349 with blood work.
hCG is an FDA-approved prescription drug. For raising testosterone in men it is often prescribed off-label; the Pregnyl label lists selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males.

What hCG does in men
hCG mimics LH, the pituitary hormone that tells the testes to make testosterone and support sperm production. Testosterone therapy switches LH off; hCG stands in for it. That is why it is used on its own by men who want to keep fertility, and alongside testosterone by men who want to keep the testes working while on TRT.
Who is hCG for?
Men with low testosterone who want to preserve fertility, and men on testosterone who want the testes kept active. Your labs decide.
- Men with low testosterone planning children now or later
- Men on TRT who want to keep the testes working
- Men whose labs point to a pituitary cause
- Men comfortable with injections
hCG versus enclomiphene versus testosterone
All three raise testosterone; they differ in how, and in what they do to fertility.
hCG. An injection that mimics LH. Supports sperm production. FDA-approved, used off-label here.
Enclomiphene. An oral medication that raises your own LH and FSH. Designed to preserve sperm production. Not FDA-approved for any use.
Testosterone. Replaces testosterone directly and suppresses sperm production.
Why men ask about hCG
Works on the testes. hCG acts like LH, so the testes keep producing testosterone themselves.
Supports sperm production. Unlike testosterone alone, hCG supports sperm production.
Alone or with TRT. It can be prescribed on its own or combined with testosterone.
Labs first. LH and FSH results show whether the problem starts in the testes or the pituitary, which decides whether hCG makes sense.
How hCG treatment starts
A consultation and labs come first.
- Consultation. Your symptoms, fertility plans and any current testosterone use.
- Hormone panel. Testosterone, LH, FSH, estradiol and more, drawn at the Scarsdale clinic or near home.
- A plan. hCG alone, hCG with testosterone, or a different option.
- Monitoring. Labs after starting to confirm the response.
