What is tesamorelin?
Tesamorelin is a modified growth hormone-releasing hormone that prompts your own pituitary to release growth hormone. Large randomized trials showed a reduction in visceral fat in adults with HIV, which is how it earned approval as Egrifta. Those trials tested the approved drug; compounded tesamorelin was not studied in them.
For the background on the peptide itself, read our guide to what tesamorelin is and what it does.
