Hair Restoration
Pain Management & Regenerative Medicine
PRP hair treatment injects a concentrate of your own platelets into the scalp to support the follicles you still have. It works best early, it works better alongside treating the cause, and it is not a transplant. Here is an honest account of what it does, what the research shows, and who it suits.

Pain Management & Regenerative Medicine
In androgenetic hair loss, follicles do not vanish overnight — they miniaturise, producing progressively finer, shorter hairs over years. PRP delivers concentrated growth factors from your own blood into the scalp to support those weakening follicles while they are still viable. That is the essential point about timing: PRP can support a struggling follicle, but it cannot resurrect one that is gone. Treating early, when thinning is visible but the area is not yet bare, is where results are best.

Why patients choose PRP for hair
Prepared from a small draw at your visit. No drug, no implant, no daily medication if you would rather not take one.
Female pattern hair loss is common, under-treated, and often dismissed. It is treated here with the same seriousness as male pattern loss.
PRP combines with minoxidil, oral therapies and nutritional correction. It is also used to support hair transplant results rather than competing with them.
Thyroid disease, iron deficiency, hormonal shifts and post-partum changes all cause hair loss and all respond to treating the underlying problem. We test rather than assume it is genetic.
Trial evidence shows double-spin preparations outperforming single-spin for hair. That is a technical decision most patients never get told about.
Your scalp is assessed and injected by a physician, in a medical clinic, not by a technician in a salon setting.

Who it suits
PRP is a treatment for early-to-moderate thinning where living follicles remain. If an area is completely bare, the honest answer is that grafting — not PRP — is what will put hair there, and we will tell you so.
The evidence, honestly
PRP for hair has a real evidence base, and also real variability between studies. Both things are true and you should know both before you commit to a course.
Most randomised trials and the systematic reviews pooling them show PRP increasing hair density and shaft thickness compared with placebo, with statistically significant differences at three and six months. It is one of the better-supported non-pharmaceutical options for androgenetic alopecia.

Hair is one of the first things the body sacrifices when something systemic is off. Treating the scalp while ignoring the rest wastes the treatment.
01Low ferritin is one of the most common reversible causes of shedding, particularly in menstruating women — and it is frequently overlooked because standard iron studies look normal.
02Both under- and overactive thyroid cause hair loss. We assess thyroid properly rather than with a single TSH.
03Perimenopause, post-partum shifts and androgen changes all affect the hair cycle. This is a hormone clinic, so that conversation happens here rather than being referred out.
04Aggressive calorie restriction — including on GLP-1 medication — commonly triggers shedding. It is manageable when someone is watching for it.
What happens
Roughly an hour in our Scarsdale office, with no downtime that stops you going back to work.
01We examine the pattern and density of loss and run labs to rule out thyroid, iron and hormonal causes before assuming the loss is genetic.
02A small volume drawn in office, exactly as for any lab test.
03The sample is processed to concentrate the platelet fraction, using the preparation approach the comparative literature supports for hair.
04A series of small injections across the thinning areas. Topical numbing is used and most patients describe it as very tolerable.
05Sessions are spaced over several months, with review to assess density before planning maintenance. You will be told the expected schedule before you start.
