Before you book

The combination most women with a uterus need

Estradiol treats hot flashes, night sweats and bone loss; progesterone protects the uterine lining from estrogen. Together, FDA-approved transdermal estradiol and oral micronized progesterone cover what custom compounding promises, bioidentical molecules and adjustable doses, with a far larger evidence base.

Timing. For healthy women under 60 or within 10 years of menopause, benefits generally outweigh risks.

Route. Transdermal estradiol carries a lower clot risk than oral estrogen.
