What is NAD+?

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every cell. It carries electrons in the reactions that turn food into usable energy, and it is used by enzymes involved in DNA repair. NAD+ levels decline with age in many tissues, which is why it is discussed in longevity medicine. What declining NAD+ means for how a person feels, and whether raising it changes long-term health, are open research questions, and your provider will treat them that way.

Who asks about NAD+?

NAD+ is considered case by case after an evaluation. It is not a treatment for any disease.

  • Adults building a longevity or preventive-health plan
  • Patients interested in fatigue and energy evaluation, where other causes are checked first
  • Patients who want physician oversight rather than an online product
  • Patients who understand the evidence in people is still developing
NAD+ in a broader care plan

Protocol Health connects treatments, diagnostics, and lifestyle support so each service is considered as part of a coordinated plan rather than in isolation.

Assessment. We begin with your goals, symptoms, medical history, and any relevant testing or prior care.

Personalization. If appropriate, your provider builds recommendations around your biology, preferences, and clinical context.

Monitoring. Progress is reviewed over time so your plan can be adjusted for safety, response, and results.

How NAD+ care works here

Injection or oral. NAD+ is available as an injection and in oral form. Your provider explains the difference in routine and cost of each.

Part of a longevity plan. NAD+ is considered alongside sleep, training, nutrition and labs, not as a stand-alone fix.

Physician-led. Care is directed by medical director Richard Dentico, MD, a board-certified physiatrist.

Follow-up. Check-ins show how you are responding and whether NAD+ is worth continuing.

  2. Labs where useful. Fatigue has many causes, from thyroid to anemia to sleep. Labs drawn on site help rule those out.
  3. A plan, if appropriate. If NAD+ fits, your provider explains the injection and oral options.
  4. Follow-up. Your provider reviews how you are doing and adjusts the plan.
